On-Farm Research for Soil Health

Erin Silva, Francois Anglade

The goal of this project was to develop an on-farm research network of farmers to facilitate research to increase our understanding of the impact and outcomes of soil health practices on diverse landscapes.

A secondary goal was to foster community of soil health-minded farmers, facilitating peer-to-peer learning and farmer adoption.

Specific research projects including interseeding cover crops into corn and bale grazing.  The major goals of the interseeding project were threefold: to bring together farmers who have already implemented sustainable farming practices (soil health-driven profiles), to study the impacts of a common practice amongst these farmers (i.e. interseeding cover-crop into corn), and to support them (i.e. show the importance and relevance of their work through data and discussions).
